Less than eight months after publicly demanding to be released from their contract with Warner Music Group, Linkin Park have renegotiated their deal with the record label. Under the terms of the new pact, the band will reportedly will receive a projected $15 million advance for their as-yet-untitled next album -- which is expected in mid-2006 -- and an estimated 20-percent royalty rate. Warner Music has an option to release up to five more albums by the band.

For millions of Americans, one of the first sights of a brand-new year is the Tournament of Roses Parade winding down Pasadena's Colorado Boulevard, with its marching bands, its equestrians, and its floats.
It's a New Year's Day tradition - one that we'll be observing on January 2 instead next year, since New Year's Day falls on a Sunday in 2006. Oh, those flower-bedecked floats!
Every year they seem to grow more elaborate. And it's the floats that most of us think of when we think of the Tournament of Roses.
Entirely covered with plant material, the floats are marvels of grace, beauty, humor, and animation. This year's parade has adopted the theme "It's Magical!" and nothing could be a better fit than Disneyland Resort's own float entry, titled The Most Magical Celebration on Earth.
We spoke with Craig Bugajski of Festival Arts, the company that is building the float, and show director John Addis of Disneyland Resort, to see what Disney magic will greet the New Year. Rockers Sevendust, who earlier this week rolled out the initial itinerary for an early 2006 roadtrip, have since added more shows to the run.
The new dates include stops in Albany, NY; South Bend, IN; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Portland, OR; San Diego; West Hollywood, CA; Anaheim, CA; Phoenix; and Las Vegas. The new dates extend the trek--which is still scheduled to launch Jan. 18 in Ft. Lauderdale--into early March.

Meanwhile, Sevendust is set to cap off 2005 with a New Year's Eve performance at the House of Blues in Orlando.

Sevendust is working the road behind its October release, "Next." The album is Sevendust's first for indie label Winedark, with whom the group signed after parting with TVT Records, and is also the group's first set with guitarist Sonny Mayo--formerly of Snot and Amen--who replaced original guitarist Clint Lowery earlier this year.

The band will fulfill its contractual obligations to TVT with the Dec. 27 release of "Best Of," a collection of previously released cuts. More information is available at TVT's Sevendust website.

Lowery, who left the band a year ago, has since resurfaced with rock group Dark New Day.
